These car maintenance tips will help you take care of the car and get the most out of it.
Dirty and contaminated engine oil, transmission fluid, and anti-freeze will cause your car some problems, and if you haven’t thought of changing your brake fluid, then maybe it’s time to do so. When you step on the brake pedal, it is the brake fluid that sends pressure to various parts of the brake; you may already realize that the fluid has to be topped off, but do you have any idea how frequently it has to be changed?

One thing you need to think about when owning a car, is that you should consistently keep up with the maintenance and servicing of your vehicle. Routine, expert service is needed to maintain your vehicle properly, whether your car is new or old.
According to expert drivers, auto mechanics, and used car salesmen, the brake fluid in automobiles gets contaminated in about 2 years. Brake fluid retains moisture, and it runs through the entire hydraulic system. Under conditions when you are braking heavily, like pulling a trailer, or driving in an area full of hills or mountains, the moisture in the overheated fluid vaporizes (the boiling point of water being lower than the brake fluid’s boiling point), which reduces braking efficiency. Even when purchasing cars, whether they’re new or used, it’s important to request the vehicle’s service history from the owner or used car dealer, to find out whether that car had any brake problems. The value of a used car always becomes higher if it has had timely routine service and car maintenance performed on it.

Besides being vulnerable to vaporizing, it’s also possible for the brake fluid to freeze. If there is serious contamination in the brake fluid, this situation can arise even under normal driving conditions. The viscosity, or thickness, of the brake fluid must remain stable across its entire range of operating temperatures. Fluid that is too high or too low in viscosity compromises the braking capabilities. In addition to the dangers of vaporization, moisture creates another concern for drivers of car that have an anti-lock braking system (ABS.) The cost of replacing corroded ABS components is very high. For used automobiles that are not equipped with ABS, the best thing to do is to always drive safely and to maintain proper speed.
We hope that these car maintenance tips help you keep your car in a good working condition.
